A charming hand-crafted Gull - free standing fused glass by Sally Moore.

The piece measures approximately 6cm  wide x 11.5cm high. Freestanding on glass base - 8.5cm wide x 5cm deep.

Sally trained as a furniture and Jewellery designer at Edinburgh College of Art then worked for many years making and teaching silver jewellery alongside teaching Design Technology at secondary school. She then discovered glass which enabled her to make larger pieces and to be driven by colour as well as texture, finding inspiration in the colours and forms of the West Coast of Scotland and from her childhood in the Lake district.

​Her great passion is nature: birds and animals. All her products are individually made in her studio in Pencaitland, Scotland, so no two ornaments are quite the same and each piece is crafted to make a wonderful addition to any home.

When making an artwork, the glass is pieced together then heated in a specialist kiln up to around 800°C. Some of her products are then slumped over a mould to create more three dimensional pieces. Many of the animals have metal inclusions to allow them to be free standing. These metal additions are hand worked, using her metalwork skills.
