Starlings, Brighton

Original cyanotype print coated by hand and then wet process printed on Arches Platine cotton rag. This image taken with a Canon 5D Mk II digital camera, enlarged and then printed as a cyanotype.

This is a hand-produced cyanotype print from an original photograph by the artist. Signed and numbered, each print is unique in a small limited edition of just 20 prints.

The artist says, "The original image was captured on film using a 60 year old Robot Royal camera at dusk. The pier offers a good vantage point for the starlings circling over the city. Although it was getting dark when I took the picture, I made a negative cyanotype print to give greater contrast and emphasise the outlines of the birds and the city."

The print is sold mounted with the print edges visible within a single mat of archival mountboard.. All materials are acid free. These are variable edition prints so each print within an edition is unique and subtly different from others in the same edition. Hand-printed to order by the artist; normally orders will be completed within five days unless the artist is away when the print will be made available as soon as possible – we will contact you to confirm as soon as we have received your order, or call us on 01296 612150 to check in advance.
