About Julien Hatswell

The glorious liberation of art college in 1986 allowed me to initially explore Interior Design and eventually settle on a Prototype/Industrial Design qualification. It also established my prefered style of organic symbolism, expressed in the genius of Antonio Gaudi, H.R.Giger, and Hector Guimard.
Following graduation and a brief period working freelance as a prototype sculptor/pattern maker for a London toy design company, I realised true joy lay in painting and sculpting for myself. In 1995 I started my Baroque Designs sculpture range, designing and manufacturing curios for the home giftware market - mirror frames, clocks, candelabras, plaques, mythical creatures and dragons. All the designs were infused with Art Nouveau and Gothic inspired styles. Some of the subjects touched areas of Pagan Goddess and Green Man symbolism, others into the mythos of H.P. Lovecraft.
