Cyanobacteria in the Round in Green/Black free standing glass panel
Beautiful fused glass panel using metal leaf decoration by Wendy Newhofer. This design is based on microscopic photography of bacterial strain Cyanobacteria.
This stunning glass panel has wonderful jewel-like qualities created by the layering of different shades of glass and metal leaf. It is an aesthetically pleasing round form supported by a wooden plinth so as to stand freely.
The whole piece is approximately 17cm(h) x 11cm(w) cm and the wooden stand is 3cm deep.
About Wendy Newhofer
Wendy first encountered kilnformed glass on an Art Foundation course in 2000 and was immediately captivated by the process. The next few years were spent studying for a part time Fine Art degree before deciding to concentrate on glass. A 3D glass course in London over three years gave her the necessary skills and experience to set up a studio at her home in Oxford.
She exhibited at Art in Action for 3 years and in 2019 she was commissioned by a garden designer to make a large window for a show garden at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show.
Wendy is also a member of the Oxford Art Society, the Oxfordshire Craft Guild, the Contemporary Glass Society, Just Glass and the Society of Designer Craftsmen and regularly shows work in their exhibitions.
