About Jacquie Turner
Jacquie gained a degree in Fine Art at Winchester School of Art studying there when Gillian Ayres was head of painting. She went on to work at Marlborough Fine Art for 5 years. The gallery represented Henry Moore, John Piper, Francis Bacon, Graham Sutherland, R.B.Kitaj, Frank Auerbach and many other world class artists. In order to gain more time in the studio to prepare for exhibitions Jacquie left Marlborough and worked part time at The Arts Council and The Tate Gallery. She has been a full-time artist since 1988.
From 1990 she exhibited mostly in London to concentrate on the early years of her children, working in the studio late at night often until early hours. Jacquie says of her work, “I gather information for paintings from my environment either travelling or at home in Buckinghamshire or Cornwall and use photography and sketch/note books to build up ideas. Friends or clients send me photos and cuttings and sometimes these visual suggestions contribute to a new phase of work.
I move through a variety of subject phases mostly using mixed media or acrylic on paper and canvas. I frequently return to a subject phase after a considerable time has elapsed. I keep all my photos, magazine cuttings and sketches (not in an organised way) and they continue to influence my work as I rediscover them.
Jacquie’s work has been exhibited and sold annually in London, New York, Singapore, and Hong Kong since 1990.
