Karen Eames M. A Biography
Karen Eames is based in Winchester. She studied Fine Art at Winchester School of Art and Design.
She began at art college as a painter and had the opportunity to develop her art practice in many different mediums, in addition to installation and multi-media work Karen continued painting a variety of subjects. Her passion for painting has continued to develop work that is often described as dreamlike with a whimsical edge . She describes the process as allowing her to explore her life, the paintings are often related to personal visual experiences which becomes richer, deeper and fuller as the painting develops. The marks on the canvas are multi layered as she draws on layers personal life experiences and feelings from reality and dreams.
The work often relates to landscapes, skies and the countryside things that are part of a personal journey and history, the work embraces life experiences from both the past and present, exploring memories and trajectories of the everyday life. Karen likes to use different medium and relate it to the landscape or study she is painting.
“Landscapes and skies are often overlooked, they surround us and yet can be missed as we are caught up in our busy lives , I capture them on my phone and sketch on site, I like the idea they are part memory and part real. I have an intuitive approach to painting preferring to explore the colours of dreams rather than reality. They become part real and part of my dreamscape. They allow me to free myself from the reality of the everyday”
Karen has exhibited nationally and internationally.
