About Alanda Calmus

Scottish based painter, Alanda Calmus has over 20 years of experience as a wildlife and portrait painter. She is known for her realistic depictions of her subjects.

More recently Alanda has moved on from this style of working to embrace a looser and more free-flowing art style.  The inclusion of animals in her art continues, but their energy and spirit are now of more importance. Through expressionistic displays of colour, she conveys her joy of the natural world.

Her paintings begin with intuitive mark-making. Once she sees something in the random marks she starts to bring out the form and details. She retains as many of the original marks as possible to keep energy and vibrancy in the finished piece. This makes each expressive piece unique and unrepeatable.

Alanda's artwork has been in many solo and group shows. She has collectors across the UK, US, Canada, Australia, and Europe.
