Artist Statement – Jenny Bell
Jennifer Bell first started painting plates as a hobby in her school holidays in 1985. Not being able to afford frames for her oil paintings she decided to paint plates instead. She continued with her hobby while attending art college and later while working as a graphic designer before setting up a business in 1997. After spending many years walking in the countryside, her designs are inspired by her love of the wild flowers and country around the river Wear in County Durham.
At first all the ceramics were bought in blank from small manufacturers in Stoke-on-Trent but over the years they disappeared as everything is being made abroad. So after working in the Fencing industry for many years, Adrian, Jenny's husband joined the business to make all the ceramics and help with the basic painting.
