Based in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, I have been a keen photographer since 1988, my early goals as a photographer were to create clean, sharp images to use as references for my career as a Fine Artist...... How far I have moved away from this starting point!

Adoration of animals, particularly horses from the age of five started my love of drawing and painting animals. I studied under Andrew McLaren at Newcastle University, my technique rooted in tradition; I keep correct proportions and accurate representation of the animals' physique and spirit without over sentimentality or an over photographic style. I now work in a variety of dry drawing media, acrylic and alkyd oil paints to produce a painterly finish.

I have exhibited across the UK and in London, New York and Dubai. My work is also included in private collections with some notable individuals within the world of horse racing.

Over the last 10 years I have increasingly become more concerned with the images I take being seen as 'art' in their own right; the capture of light, the narrative, the staging, make-up and styling, compositions and now, editing effects and Photoshop image manipulation to create final pieces that have a more magical quality. In this way I feel I am combining my skill as a traditional painter with my passion of photography and using Photoshop to blend the two together creating an original vision.......

My horse obsession often comes to the fore; a horse owner since my teenage years has led to competing, judging, breeding and breaking-in horses as well as a stint as a lead-rein mum! The Pre Raphaelites are a constant inspiration and I now work closely with Atkinson Action Horses and Pen Llyn Lusitano Stud in the creation of my equine fine art pieces.
