Hoopoe Bird and Chameleon Jug by Jeanne Jackson
A beautiful and rich teal coloured jug hand made in earthenware by Jeanne Jackson. With a Scraffito design Hoopoe bird motif often present in Jeanne's work, they add an essence charm to her pieces whilst demonstrating her attention to detail and interest in the natural world. On the reverse of this jug is a friendly green chameleon. The piece measures approximately 11cm high x 6cm depth and is 12cm wide including the handle.
Artist Statement – Jeanne Jackson
After a degree in Ceramics from Bristol University and further study at Saratoga University, New York State, Jeanne established her first workshop at Space Studios in London`s Docklands. After moving to Oxfordshire, she combined teaching Art and Ceramics with producing her own work. Jeanne's style and materials have evolved and changed over the years but drawing has always been an important part of her development. Travels in Central America and Africa have informed the designs of her recent work which involves scraffito drawing and under glazes and oxides. Jeanne's work is both hand built and wheel thrown and she specialises in individual unique pieces.
Jeanne is a member of Oxfordshire Craft Guild, West Ox Arts, Oxfordshire Artweeks and an Associate member of the Craft Potters Association.
