About John A. Viccars

Self-taught, John A. Viccars was inspired to paint by his uncle, Frank Bellamy, the well known cartoonist and painter who produced the characters Dan Dare for Eagle Comics and Garth for the Daily Mail.

John's preferred medium is watercolour and his method traditional, but has recently started experimenting with acrylics and painting in a flatter, more comtemporary style.

Born in Northamptonshire and later moving to North Burckinghamshire, he has since retired to Shropshire where he has more time to paint and indulge his love of the countryside.
