Mary Casserley

Born in Berkhamsted, Mary now lives in Tring, Hertfordshire.

Mary paints in gouache, predominantly views and landmarks in and around the Chiltern Hills, drawing her images carefully in pencil beforehand. Her work revisits the classic era of Railway advertising Poster design, recreated in the fresh and vibrant tones of the 1930's travel art. She is influenced by the artists famous for creating pre-war advertising posters, particularly Norman Wilkinson.

Interest in her work is growing. Recently Boris Johnson purchased one of her original paintings showing him and his family in the garden at Chequers. (This is available as a print from Obsidian.)
