Artist Statement
Kim says : Fascinated by mark making, I am constantly finding new materials and
components to burn, dissolve and adhere to my printing plate. My interests in Man’s
connection to Gaia, Ancient philosophy, and poetry, and the marks we leave, good
and bad, form most of my ideas and images that feed into the flow of my yearly
collections.
On many occasions, I have collaborated with poets who, by putting words to my
work and exhibitions, have created a powerful statement on these themes.
Having been in printmaking for over 15 years, I find the different ways of inking and
pulling the plate through my traditional press are constantly changing, the hand
embellishing with gold leaf and crackle still retains its delight and the creative
process in my studio is an exciting adventure.
