About Tamsin Jolly
Tamsin is a self-taught printmaker specialising in linocut. Her prints are inspired by her love of nature, particularly British flora and fauna. She has created art for as long as she can remember, often to record the beauty and wonder of the natural world.
Through her linocuts, Tamsin tries to capture and preserve moments that resonate with her; walks in the countryside, fleeting encounters with wildlife, the changing seasons. Each design starts life in sketchbooks - an initial sketch may be reworked a dozen times before it is transferred onto lino. Beyond the physical world, stories, symbolism, and folklore weave their magic, adding another layer of depth to her linocuts.
Tamsin was drawn to linocut during her Art Foundation course and discovered a love for the traditional techniques of printmaking – the whole process is a labour of love, from initial sketches and carving the design, to inking, burnishing and finally revealing a truly unique and original piece of art.
