About the Artist

Sue Nicholls is a Fine Art Textile Artist and Printmaker. She lives with her family in Buntingford, East Hertfordshire and the local rural landscape is the inspiration for much of her work. Of particular interest are the natural shapes and forms found in the arable fields, the plants and trees that populate the verges and land boundaries and the effect of seasonal changes on. Her work is highly textural and takes the form of embroidered landscapes, botanical art and decorative accessories and graphic prints. She uses a variety of different materials in her work including linen, wool felt, silk, abaca tissue, paper, dyes, thread and wire. She likes the challenge of finding interesting and unusual ways of combining the different techniques that she uses, such as hand and machine embroidery, drawing and print making. Sue also enjoys experimenting with different media and materials to allow her to express her ideas in new and interesting ways, sometimes creating new techniques during the process.
