Marie Jones
Marie is a self-taught fibre artist with a passion for wool crafts- there is always something new to learn. Developing her skills over recent years has been an adventure. She uses natural and dyed wool fibres such as Merino and Corriedale and speciality fibres such as silk to create my pictures. Once layered on a fabric or felt base, they are wet felted using hot water and soap or dry felted with a barbed needle. Both methods “knit” and bind the fibres together to make the artwork. Depth and texture are then added by machine stitching and hand embroidery using a variety of yarns and threads and integrated snippets of textile. It is a labour intensive process.
